Navy’s CDO on DOD data sharing advances
One of the primary IT goals of the Department of Defense is to flatten the technical and cultural obstacles that prevent data sharing across the military services. That goal is part of the Pentagon’s broader push to create a Joint All-Domain Command and Control, or JADC2, framework that would connect sensor and intelligence data from across the military services.
Thomas Sasala, chief data officer at the U.S. Department of the Navy, and Juliana Vida, group vice president and chief strategy adviser at Splunk, discuss those efforts and the progress DOD has been making over the past two years.
They also highlight what’s changing within the ranks of senior military leaders to break down barriers and accelerate data-sharing efforts. And they discuss what more needs to happen to bring the Defense Department and industry closer together to identify opportunities to better support more unified, cross domain information sharing.
