HHS’ Andrea Palm unveils multi-faceted strategy to bolster cybersecurity in healthcare

Andrea Palm, Deputy Secretary for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), discussed HHS’s comprehensive strategy to enhance cyber resilience in the healthcare sector. This strategy encompasses four main pillars: establishing cyber performance goals, offering financial assistance to healthcare providers, increasing accountability and enforcement regarding patient data security, and improving federal coordination for cyber assistance. Palm also mentioned forthcoming cybersecurity requirements based on voluntary performance goals and enhanced practices to strengthen standards across the healthcare sector, with the aim of embedding these into HHS operations and policies.
