US, India Sign Cybersecurity Agreement

The Department of Homeland Security announced the United States and India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote closer cooperation and the timely exchange of information between the organizations of their respective governments responsible for cybersecurity.

According to DHS, the MOU was signed in New Delhi by Jane Holl Lute, Deputy Secretary for DHS and R. Chandrashekhar, Secretary, India Department of Information Technology. The agreement helps fulfill the joint commitment of both nations to advancing global security and countering terrorism, one of the pillars of the U.S.-India Strategic Dialogue launched on July 20, 2009.

The agreement establishes best practices to exchange cybersecurity information and expertise between the two government, allowing the two countries to coordinate with their counterparts on a broad range of technical and operational cyber issues, the agency said.
