GSA wants to be the leader in federal generative AI
Robin Carnahan, the Administrator of the General Services Administration (GSA), highlighted the agency’s significant investment in artificial intelligence during the inaugural AITalks event. Carnahan revealed that the GSA is currently running 150 AI pilots and utilizing 132 generative AI tools, affirming the agency’s commitment to integrating AI into federal services as a leading provider of shared services.
The GSA is also operating seven different sandbox environments to further explore AI capabilities, with plans to expand these initiatives. Carnahan emphasized the pivotal role of generative AI in redefining service delivery within the federal government. She stressed the importance of leadership in AI adoption, asserting that decisions made now will determine whether America ends up on the right side of history regarding AI integration.
Additionally, the GSA’s IT category management office within the Federal Acquisition Service is developing an acquisition resource guide to facilitate the procurement of best-in-class AI technologies and specialized computing infrastructure, aiming to foster close partnerships with the industry.
