NASA: CIO role to be filled by April 1

NASA expects to appoint a new chief information officer by April 1, the agency said yesterday in a release announcing current CIO Linda Cureton’s intention to retire.

Cureton, the agency’s CIO since September of 2009, will remain with the agency until April 1. By then, the agency said, an appointment is expected to be made following an open competition for the job.

Cureton confirmed to FedScoop on Tuesday her intent to retire following 34 years of working in the federal government. Cureton said she plans to explore opportunities with industry and remain a part of the federal technology community.
