NASA is looking for a chief information officer for the Ames Research Center. The job pays between $119,554 and $165,300 and is open for applications until July 27.
The incumbent serves as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Ames Research Center (ARC) and reports to the Agency CIO, with responsibility for ensuring that Center information resources are managed in compliance with Federal and Agency policies and procedures. Relevant policies and procedures may be defined through legislation such as the Clinger-Cohen Act, the E-Gov Act, and the Federal Information Technology (IT) Security Management Act (FISMA); OMB Circulars (e.g., A-130); or policies established by the NASA Chief Information Officer.
The incumbent ensures that the Center’s investments in IT are in alignment with the Agency’s Information Resources Management (IRM) Strategic Plan and that the Center complies with the NASA Capital Planning and Investment Control (CPIC) process in establishing the Center IT Investment Portfolio.
The CIO represents ARC as a member of the NASA CIO Board, and is responsible for integrating, verifying, and communicating the Center’s requirements, issues, and concerns on Agency-wide matters under Board consideration. The incumbent’s Board responsibilities also include supporting the NASA CIO by remaining cognizant of current and planned Agencywide systems and services and coordinating Center participation in Agencywide CIO initiatives. The incumbent manages a range of information systems and services to support Center programmatic, engineering, scientific, and administrative functions for ARC. This includes planning, engineering, acquiring and operating computer systems, including voice, data, and video networks, as well as the acquisition of software products and the development of application software.
Specifically the incumbent is responsible for:
Leading the NASA Competency Center for IT Security (NCCITS) and all other assigned IT security activities in direct support of the NASA Deputy CIO for IT Security in the planning and execution of the Agency¿s IT Security Program.
Leading the NASA Security Operations Center (SOC) and is responsible for the planning of mission-critical information technology (IT) systems that affect the integrity of an agency-wide IT infrastructure, and evaluating IT systems and subsystems that meet overall information needs of multiple major organizational units.
Leading the Center’s application of scalable and interoperable IT infrastructure through the Enterprise Architecture, IT management and planning, IT acquisition, IT security program management, provisioning of core IT services, and creation of an open IT environment.
Defining Centerwide support process requirements and implementing cost effective solutions that enable the Center’s science, engineering, technology development and program/project community to meet Center mission requirements.
Providing long-range planning for meeting Center requirements for information resources and management systems, IT security, software engineering technologies, administrative and technical management information.
Providing technical management and direction to the associated hardware, software, and information systems contractors; developing and implementing project management activities associated with these functions, including the generation, definition, and execution of management plans, implementation plans, and schedules.
