After a weekend filled with playoff football and the Golden Globe Awards, we are beginning to appreciate the history of President Obama’s Friday announcement to reorganize the government by folding six commerce-related agencies into one. Considering the last time the government tried something like this was 28 years ago, if Congress approves the president’s proposal, it is something that will be written about in 8th grade civics textbooks for generations to come.
