As acting OFPP administrator, Field is helping shape the policy that will fuel one of the largest IT modernizations in federal history. With OFPP’s focus on leveraging category management to streamline acquisition and innovation by buying goods and services in a more uniform manner across the government, Field said now is an exciting time to be in government. “We have been doing our deepest dive in category management in IT, and have identified many best-in-class solutions, strategies, and practices that make it easier, faster, and less expensive to buy common IT requirements,” she said. “This frees our valuable acquisition and IT workforces to solve much more difficult, higher-impact problems. I feel fortunate that I have had the opportunity to apply both creativity and business acumen to our IT challenges and opportunities. There is both art and science in what we do, and I have always been encouraged to use both skills.”
