The General Services Administration on Wednesday put out two requests for proposals it believes will significantly cut extraneous contracting costs for numerous professional services.
The two calls for contract bids are the next step in GSA’s long-planned move to create One Acquisition Solution for Integrated Services, or OASIS. One contract will serve contracts with larger companies, and the other will focus on small businesses.
Once OASIS is implemented, GSA believes it will help eradicate duplicate contracts for a variety of professional services, such as management and consulting, professional engineering, and logistics and finance.
The need to move to OASIS was identified when it became clear redundant contracts — either with multiple contractors or within the same contractor — were creating price variability and raising overall acquisition costs.
OASIS will build one strategy across the federal government in the hopes of chopping hundreds of millions of dollars off acquisition spending.
Both contracts are multiple-award contracts for an indefinite quantity of supplies or services over the period of the contract.
