Former DHS CIO Zangardi officially joins Leidos
Former Department of Homeland Security CIO John Zangardi has officially taken a senior executive role with Leidos.
The company confirmed Monday what sources close to Zangardi told FedScoop earlier this month when he suddenly departed DHS.
He will serve as senior vice president of business initiatives and strategic partnerships in the company’s Civil Group.
Zangardi, a longtime federal IT official who also served as acting CIO in the Department of Defense for several months, told his staff in a note at the time of his Nov. 15 departure that “[a]fter three decades of military and government service, I feel the time is right for me to try my hand at something different. I am going to take a very short break from work and then dive right back into the excitement.”
“John is a transformational IT executive and leader who has been instrumental in advancing cybersecurity and digital modernization across DHS and DOD,” Jim Moos, Leidos Civil Group acting group president, said in a statement. “I’m confident that with John’s expertise we will continue to strengthen strategic relationships and align our business strategies to adapt to the evolving cybersecurity, IT modernization, and digital transformation environment.”
Zangardi this year won a FedScoop 50 Golden Gov award for lifetime achievement.
