Congratulations IT program managers, you now officially exist.
The Office of Personnel Management recently released the Job Family Standard (JFS) for Administrative Work in the Information Technology Group that adds the basic title of Information Technology Program Manager, according to a memo by Angela Bailey, Deputy Associate Director of Recruitment and Hiring at OPM.
This supports the White House’s 25-Point Plan to Reform Federal IT by providing a more defined career track for IT program managers.
Agencies now have 12 months to apply the new standard, although the memo encourages them to utilize the new title “as soon as possible to meet the intent of the White House” to better enable a cadre of high-performing IT Program Managers.
