A little less than a year after launching, the White House released statistics and an infographic on its “We the People” online petition site.
Since its launch on Sept. 22, 2011, the site has received more than 3.3 million signature, has 2.756 million users and nearly 46,000 petitions.
“Many times, petitions posted on We the People have a real impact on policy-making. For example, the popularity of two petitions concerning online piracy (a.k.a. SOPA & PIPA) crystallized the Administration’s position on the issue, which was first detailed in a response on We the People,” wrote Macon Phillips on the White House blog.
